Janet Parker
Editorial Design Portfolio
I took up graphic design in 1979 while living in New Orleans. An intensive workshop in 1985 with Milton Glaser inspired me to move to New York. Milton and that workshop continue to inspire me. After graduating from Parsons School of Design with a BFA, I went to work for Milton and Walter Bernard's editorial design and development studio, WBMG. Later, I worked as an art director for magazines (including GQ, Time, and Newsweek), and book publishers (including Workman and Tin House).
The books and magazines shown here include projects from Tin House, Workman, Newsweek, Art & Antiques, and more. For most of these, my role was art director and designer. For a few I was also the illustrator. Photography and illustration credits are given where applicable.
